Origins Africa is a Kenyan-founded cultural storytelling and preservation organization. We document, preserve, and share the living heritage of Africa with care, context, and reverence.

Origins Africa begins with the understanding that heritage is not held in one place. It moves through people, language, craft, music, land, and memory. Our work starts in Kenya and listens outward—across the continent and its diaspora.
Founder-led
Rehoboth Hope Muthamia
Founder & Executive Director
Rehoboth Hope Muthamia is the founder of Origins Africa, living between Kenya and Europe. Her work is shaped by a deep love for culture and a commitment to preserving the stories, practices, and living heritage that connect communities across generations.
With a background in Kenya’s film industry and experience in cultural exchange programmes in Belgium and the Netherlands, Rehoboth brings a cross-cultural perspective to the work of Origins Africa. She is building the organisation as a thoughtful home for African cultural memory—one that listens first and creates space for stories to be shared with dignity.
As Origins Africa grows, Rehoboth will welcome cultural advisors, community collaborators, and creative partners into this work with care and purpose.

Sacred Kaya forests
The Kayas are cultural spaces where oral tradition, community ethics, and care for the natural environment are interwoven. Mijikenda councils of elders remain important custodians of this heritage.

Made from the inner bark of the mutuba tree, barkcloth is shaped through skilled work with wooden mallets. The practice carries cultural and ceremonial meaning within Buganda.
